Beat the blurgghhh with this pick me up drink recipe
A few weeks ago, the littles were poorly. Nothing major luckily, just the monthly cough and cold and that always seems to follow licking all the toys at Nursery. With lots of cuddles and movie days on the sofa, Little Mister and Little Lady bounced back quickly. However, they shared their ailment with me (Daddy somehow missed the worst of it after having the flu jab).
The cough was the worst; I must have bought half of Boots Pharmacy back with me to try and contain it. Coughing constantly caused me the worst sore throat, leaving me with a sexy husky blues voice (every cloud) for my birthday celebrations. Eventually, I turned to the internet for advice, and honey seemed to be the go-to cure all for tickly coughs. Although successful, there is only so much honey from the jar one can consume before going a little crazy, so I started looking toward other healing concoctions.
What’s a hot toddy?
Traditionally, a hot toddy is made from honey, lemon, whisky and a splash of hot water to bring everything together. The lemon and honey work wonders for an irritating cough, and the whisky helps too somehow (maybe you just care a little less about the cough after consumption?). With a bit of creativity, I created my own ultimate hot toddy recipe with ingredients I already had in the house. This saw the cough off each evening for a good few hours and is a super tasty winter warmer. If you are not drinking, omitting the rum from the below recipe still creates a fantastically scrumptious warming drink.

I've heard this old school classic is supposed to be amazing for colds, flus, coughs and general bleurgh and now we all know how to make it - thank you!

We love ourselves a hot toddy. My uncle definitely advocates having it with whiskey AND rum, lol.

Minus the alcohol, I have a hot lemon and honey every day through the winter colds season - and I swear it keeps the nasties at bay. For best results use fresh lemon and local organic (non-heat treated honey) and make sure the water isn’t boiling when you add it. It’s a lifesaver x

Ahh the famous hot toddy! To be honest I usually just do hot honey and water - so this recipe sounds bliss. I’ll have to remember it ?

Sounds like a great alternative to buying half of boots!! I usually do t honey and lemon thing and it doesn’t really do much, will try this next time a dreaded cough bug enters the house!xz
